The GVI Charitable Trust supports sustainable development through the empowerment and education of local communities and grassroots organizations.

These are the defining objectives of the GVI-CT as laid out below:

  1. to promote for the benefit of the public the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment;
  2. to advance education and research for the benefit of the public in the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment;
  3. to relieve sickness and preserve and promote the good health of persons;
  4. to relieve poverty, financial hardship and distress

Our figurehead program "The Global Eden Project" focuses on example land purchase creating sustainable local incomes and centers for climate care education.

The coasts and forests of Costa Rica are home to some extremely rare species and unique ecosystems. Together with partners in Costa Rica, through the Global Eden Project, the GVI-CT aims to purchase land to be managed with the local peoples. The land will be managed as a nature reserve with use by tourists in a world class eco-lodge. This in turn will have a research section and resident scientist(s) to continually monitor the effects of the lodge and human use. Finally there will be an education center offering free resources for local communities. With the right management and this monitoring we will be able to ensure that this project is a world leader in sustainable use and revenue building for local peoples. It will become a figurehead for ecotourism everywhere. GVI -CT requires supporting partners for this initiative.
