Whole Foods Market
Founded in 1980 as one small store in Austin, Texas, Whole Foods Market® is now the world's leading retailer of natural and organic foods, with 194 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. GVI Corporate Alliance is coordinating the overseas volunteering program in partnership with Whole Planet Foundation and Whole Foods Market to offer Team Members a chance to understand and connect with the global community and the mission of the Foundation.
Whole Planet Foundation, a private, nonprofit organization established by Whole Foods Market, provides grants to microfinance institutions in Latin America, Africa and Asia who in turn develop and offer microenterprise loan programs, training and other financial services to the self-employed poor.
Supplier Alliance for Microcredit is a global alliance of companies who are currently vendors to Whole Foods Market and share a desire to change the world, one entrepreneur at a time. The companies joining the Whole Planet Foundation in this Alliance are committed to supporting the mission of the Foundation with a goal of collectively raising a minimum of $2 million in funding for microcredit programs in the international community.
The Emirates Foundation acts as the governing body of an endowment fund that is funded collectively through the private and public sectors and the government. The Emirates Foundation encompasses four core areas of interest, including Education, Research & Development, Arts & Culture, and Social & Environmental Development. The Foundation aims to identify and cater to the needs of the public in each of these core areas the development of specialized programs and institutions, enhancement of existing programs and facilities, and the provision of funding assistance.

LGI is working with GVI Corporate Alliance to develop partnerships between GVI and major companies in the United States designed to enable employees to participate in volunteer projects and team-building expeditions internationally.
